Tend ("we", "our", or "the app") is designed with your privacy as a core principle. We believe your personal relationships are deeply private, and we've built Tend to respect that.

Data Storage

Tend stores all your contact data, relationship information, interaction history, and preferences locally on your device. We do not transmit your personal contact data to any external servers.

AI Message Generation

When you use the AI message suggestion feature, minimal context is sent to our AI provider to generate message suggestions. This data is not stored by our AI provider and is used solely to generate your requested message. No contact names, phone numbers, or identifying information is shared.

Information We Collect

We may collect the following non-personal information:

  • Basic app usage analytics (e.g., feature usage frequency)
  • Crash reports and performance data
  • Device type and iOS version

This information is collected in aggregate and cannot be used to identify you personally.

Third-Party Services

Tend may use the following third-party services:

  • Apple's StoreKit for subscription management
  • AI services for message generation (with minimal, anonymized data)

Device Permissions

Tend may request the following device permissions:

  • Contacts — To import contacts into the app. Your contact data is stored locally and never uploaded to our servers.
  • Notifications — To send you reminders when it's time to reach out to someone. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

You can revoke any of these permissions at any time through your device's Settings app.

Data Retention

All personal data is stored locally on your device and persists until you delete it within the app or uninstall Tend. We do not retain any personal data on external servers. Anonymized analytics data may be retained for up to 12 months to help us improve the app.

Children's Privacy

Tend is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Your Rights

Since your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can delete all app data by uninstalling Tend from your device.

If you are a resident of California, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, you may have additional rights under the CCPA or GDPR, including the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Because Tend stores data locally on your device, you can exercise these rights directly without needing to contact us. If you have any questions about your rights, please reach out to us.
